BI-OME

What is a biocide?

European law defines a biocide as a microorganism or chemical substance intended to destroy, deter, render harmless or exert a controlling effect on any harmful organism.

Biocides are regulated by the Biocidal Products Regulation, which concerns the placement of biocidal products on the market. Every biocidal product requires authorisation prior to placement on the market, and its active ingredients must be approved.

What does BI-OME do?

Our floor coverings are treated with BI-OME, a biocide that uses antimicrobial and virus-reducing technology. BI-OME® is a permanent, non-harmful technology which guarantees the optimal freshness and hygiene of textiles in our HygienePlus range.

Our textiles are treated with the Oeko-tex registered product BI-OME, which penetrates deep into the fibres of the floor covering.

BI-OME works by effectively killing bacteria on contact with the mat. This also prevents the development of unpleasant odours. The effect remains active for the lifespan of the mat.

The active ingredient in BI-OME achieves a faster reduction of viral activity in enveloped viruses. It maintains a durable viral-reducing effect on surfaces such as carpets and mats. The active ingredient in BI-OME reduces the viral activity of enveloped viruses.
